Turn Key Designs is Lombard’s home-grown residential interior design team. Our studio and showroom sit at 219 S Main Street, right in the heart of the village. When Lombard homeowners need interior design services, they get more than a designer who emails mood boards from across town. They get a team that is here, available for in-person consultations, material walkthroughs, and the kind of hands-on design experience that screens and samples cannot replicate.

Lombard’s housing stock is wonderfully varied: brick bungalows on the north side, Dutch Colonials near Westmore Woods, post-war capes in Shelley Park, and larger two-stories throughout Lilac Village. Each style presents its own design opportunities, and we bring the same care and precision to a bungalow kitchen refresh as we do to a whole-home transformation in a newer build.

Interior Design Services We Offer

Our interior design work covers every aspect of residential interiors. We begin every project with a structured discovery visit where we walk each room with you, discuss how you live in the space, and identify what you want to change. From there, our design team builds a plan tailored to your home and your budget.

  • Space planning: Analyzing traffic flow, furniture placement, and room function to optimize how your home works
  • Material and finish selection: Cabinets, countertops, flooring, tile, paint colors, hardware, and lighting fixtures across every surface and detail
  • Color consultation: Whole-home color schemes that create cohesion across rooms while giving each space its own identity
  • 3D rendering and visualization: See your redesigned rooms in photorealistic detail before any work begins
  • Custom millwork design: Built-in shelving, window seats, fireplace surrounds, and other custom elements that add character and function

The Lombard Showroom Advantage

Interior design is a tactile process. Our Lombard showroom gives you access to full-size cabinet displays, countertop slabs, flooring installations, tile patterns, hardware collections, and fixture displays. For Lombard homeowners, the showroom is minutes away. Make selections at your own pace, come back as many times as you need, and bring family members along for second opinions. That level of access is something you cannot get from a design firm that ships you a sample box and schedules a Zoom call.

The design process we follow is built around in-person decision-making. We have found that homeowners who touch and compare materials in person make better choices and feel more confident about them. Fewer regrets, faster approvals, better results.

Design-Build Integration

What makes our interior design practice different from a standalone design firm is integration. We do not hand you a stack of drawings and wish you luck finding a contractor. Our design and construction teams are the same company. The designer who specifies your kitchen layout sits with the builder who constructs it. Every design decision is validated for constructability and cost before you approve it.

That means no beautiful-on-paper designs that fall apart when the contractor opens the wall. It means no surprise material backorders that derail your timeline. It means no design-contractor disputes that leave you mediating between two separate companies. For a deeper look at why design-build saves time and money, read our guide on the subject.

When it comes to permits and inspections, we coordinate directly with the Village of Lombard Building Division so you do not have to navigate that process on your own. Our team handles the paperwork, the scheduling, and the sign-offs from start to finish.

Who We Design For in Lombard

Lombard homeowners who work with our design team typically fall into a few categories: those planning a major remodel who want design guidance before construction starts; homeowners who have recently purchased and want to make the home their own; and those refreshing a home they have lived in for years, ready for an update but not sure where to begin.

If you are considering a kitchen remodel, a bathroom renovation, or custom cabinetry, the interior design phase is where those projects succeed or fall short. Our designers help you avoid the costly mistakes that come from skipping the planning stage and going straight to demolition. Our blog post on how to plan a whole-home renovation walks through exactly what that process looks like.

Our work is guided by the standards set by the American Society of Interior Designers and the National Kitchen and Bath Association, two industry organizations whose best practices inform how we approach every project.
